Lost & Found Policy Basics
Attempt to return item to owner.
If unable to find owner, hold item for at least 30 days to allow time for the owner to claim item. Valuable items should be given to the police to hold.
After 30 days, item may be disposed of, which includes throwing item away, donating item, or selling the item to defray costs associated with storing and taking care of the item.
